It plays an important role in cell membrane formation and serves as part of the phosphatidylinositol secondary messenger system, supporting serotonin, norepinephrine and cholinergic receptor function. As a result, inositol may support healthy mood, emotional wellness/behavior, and help lessen occasional nervous tension.
